Okay, so here is what I think I have so far. I arranged all the letters in the authors' names, alphabetically, like this:
Then, I arranged the letters in the sentence in the "letters" picture. Also, I assumed that "6 MISSING!" wasn't part of the sentence, but a message/instructions to us.
So, when we line those strings of letters up next to each other, we get this:
Raw letters: aaaaabcccddddeeeeffgghhhiijjkkkkllmnnnnooooooprrrrsssstttuuuvyy aaaaabcccddddeeeehhhiijjkkllmnnnnoooooopqrrrrsssstttuuuvwxyyyz
They look awful similar, don't they? So, referring to the math formula, (letters + 6) - writers, I would think the letters from the "letters" picture need to have 6 added to them before we can subtract the writers. 6 what? 6 letters? That would make sense, given, the "6 MISSING" message. But what six? Remember the Sinclair picture?
The keyboard has little red x2's next to 3 keys, so we get:
Which would give us ff, gg, and kk, if I understand it right?
I tried adding these letters to each line separately and to both lines, but "letters+6", just like in the math formula, made the most sense. So here it is:
aaaaabcccddddeeeeffgghhhiijjkkkkllmnnnnooooooprrrrsssstttuuuvyy aaaaabcccddddeeeeffgghhhiijjkkkkllmnnnnoooooopqrrrrsssstttuuuvwxyyyz
Of course, since we are going to be doing subtraction, I should probably switch the lines:
aaaaabcccddddeeeeffgghhhiijjkkkkllmnnnnoooooopqrrrrsssstttuuuvwxyyyz aaaaabcccddddeeeeffgghhhiijjkkkkllmnnnnooooooprrrrsssstttuuuvyy
So I am guessing we want the difference between the lines. You can see how they line up, until, you get to after the "p". So let's chop off that part:
qrrrrsssstttuuuvwxyyyz rrrrsssstttuuuvyy
You can see the difference is a "q". Follow that pattern, striking out letters they have in common, then, see what's left:
qwxyz
So I think I'm on the right track with this.... but now what do we do with this?! It's Tuesday, June 26, 2012, and this is where we are.

Cripes, nice work.
From G:
So we use Dostoyevsky instead? I'll get back to this unless someone beats me to it.

(using Dostoyevsky)
qrrrrsssstttuuuvwxyyyz prrrrsssstttuuuvyyy
The difference is: qwxz
Still don't know what to do with it, though.

(using Dostoyevsky) [...] The difference is: qwxz Still don't know what to do with it, though. Nice work Chaosky! Nathan tweeted this yesterday: "Letters are correct", I take to mean "qwxz" are the right answer. "Now use the keys"...... You got me. "Reverse 7/10's tube "mistake" to make another." I think I understand this, explanation, below. "Check 8/10 at "home" to apply that "mistake"" Not sure about this one. "Reverse 7/10's tube "mistake" to make another." I started watching www.youtube.com/watch?v=j0JcOsY3dks before I caught 10storme's comment: ">viloet" I looked at the title, and it says "Location 7 of 10: Viloet Bank Solved". "Viloet" is a misspelling of "Violet", obviously. So if we reverse that, we get "teoliv", or "teoliV" if we keep the caps. I suppose it could be an anagram of "to live", but I still don't see how that helps us. "8/10 at "home"" I don't know what it could mean, except going to the physical location. I was under the impression that we were doing all of this, so we wouldn't have to. What's the point if we have to go there anyway???!!! Now I'm confused. My brain is stuck at the moment. It's Monday, July 2, 2012, and this is where we are. EDIT: Nathan tweeted again: It's an article on pcworld.com, about bad keyboarrds. The third one in, which is entry number 9, is our old friend, Time Timex Sinclair 2068!! So, since the article is about keybaords, I figured, this must be the "use the keys" reference. So, looking at each key, they all have a bunch of words and symbols on that keyboard. Here's how each key looks: Out of each letter from qwxz, the keyboard has this: Q: SIN, Q, PLOT, < =, ASN W: COS, W, DRAW, < >, ACS X: EXP, X, CLEAR, (British pound sign), INK Z: LN, Z, COPY, :, BEEP Still a bit lost, but I haven't given up yet. Not sure what 8/10 home means yet, but I feel like we're making progress.

Okay, so here's my take on this: is a direct reference to Sins are forgiven: SIN Letters are ignored: Q (a single letter) Nothing is less than anything else: < You need not visit Addlestone: ASN (Googled Addlesone, found its wikipedia page, then googled Addlestone ASN on a hunch and found this: www.nationalrail.co.uk/stations/asn/details.html ASN is the abbreviation for Addlestone Station.) So, if I'm right, and it means that, we take away each of the things referenced, then that just leaves us PLOT, =. Of course, since the < = is on a single line on the key, that may actually mean it is one unit to be removed per Nathan's instructions, therefore that leaves us with PLOT. If we apply that directive, to the other keys, and keep the main word under the letter that is not above, or below the key, or in the black bar on each key, or the letters, themselves, that leaves us with: Q: PLOT W: DRAW X: CLEAR Z: COPY So this goes back to... what do we do with these? Plot, draw, clear, copy It's Thursday, July 5th, 2012, and this is where we are.

Well, I went to dolst.com/gangadiddle, and just poked around, because I had no idea what to even do next. And I noticed the numbered sections under "Clues, Keys, Locks" and I suddenly made the connection. "8/10's home" is right there!!!! So I clicked on 08. No Spiders here. and now there's a new form with 4 fields, asking for Block 1, Block 2, Block 3, and Block 4. The button says "Submit Code". Right under that, it says "PW 99999". So I did the CharlottesWeb.rar link thing, and downloaded that again, and I tried 99999 as the pw but it didn't work. I didn't expect that to work. Next, I tried putting PLOT in block 1, DRAW in block 2, CLEAR in block 3 and, COPY in block 4 and hit "Submit Code". This time the PW shows up as 37582465. I tried that in CharlottesWeb.rar but that didn't work either. I also tried submitting the form blank. That gives "PW 9856937". So, obviously the "PW" section changes based on what you put in the blocks. I'm going to try the other words on those Timex computer keys, so I'll post what I find, if anything. It's July... holy crap, it's FRIDAY THE 13TH!!!!! LOL anyway, yeah, it's Friday, July 13th, 2012, and this is where we are.

Sorry I've been away. I've been busy with some things. I'll leave it at that.
Anyway, Nathan just tweeted this:
I had to re-read it three times before I realized what he's doing. > lod man > slove > colse
The "O" and "L" are switched in each of those words, just like in "Viloet Bank".
That makes me think of "PLOT", or should I say "POLT"?!! I'm going to go try something.
EDIT: THAT WAS IT!!!!! YOU HAVE TO MISSPELL "PLOT" AS "POLT"!!!!! That was the "mistake" having to do with 7/10!!! OMG I can't believe I didn't catch that!
I put "polt" in block 1, "draw" in block 2, "clear" in 3, and, "copy" in 4. I hit submit and it gave me 19551979 as the password. I tried it on charlottesweb.rar, and, BOOM!
We have 5 files.
9clue.txt, bull.rar, camel.rar, rhinocerous.rar, and, walrus.rar. (I tried that password on all the animal rar files, but it didn't work.)
Okay, here's the contents of 9clue.txt:
So, without going to Buckroe Beach, it looks like we've just jumped to the next location! I'm going to google colleges and zoos and see what comes up. Wish me luck!
EDIT 2: I just read my post back on July 2nd, and now I feel like a real derp-head!!! I HAD IT BACK THEN!!! I just forgot or something. God! Anyway, we're on to location 9 now. Where's my video, Nathan? XD (Or do I get one, since I didn't actually travel there?)
It's Thursday, July 26, 2012, and this is where we are!

aaaah, you don't have to! i'm still here. the site has shut down. yesterday on a whim i happened to check the twitter, website, YT channel, etc... everything was updated over(?) a month ago but just this morning, David actually posted to MFG!!! then some cryptic-sounding person (s7) replied. it's their name i remember seeing, but i don't recall their relevance (if there was any to be had).
anyhow. the exchange is quite lengthy so i won't quote it here, but you may view it in the comments on MFG. @gangadiddle was updated as well:
whatever is being implied here it doesn't sound good, but perhaps a bit more fiddling with charlottesweb.rar will tell us more.
we still have time. the hunt isn't necessarily dead. for medical reasons i haven't been very present but i would very much like to re-engage the search with all of you. gonna fuck around with the contents of 9clue and such tonight. the site has been overhauled quite a bit... but it can't possibly be inactive seeing as David is posting to MFG.
ta for now!

so let's try to break down 9clue.txt: rugby rd is in VA. university of VA has such a road!!!! coincidence? I THINK NOT. great work, google. you have outdone yourself. well, the part leading into the university is straight, whereas if you check it out on google maps, the road gets all batshit and turns into like 20 other roads. methinks we should be looking at that end, not the university end, seeing as it "may not" be for us. skynyrd reference in the first part ("gimme three steps"), not sure on the second. address hints...? but there's no 16 or 26 according to gmaps. wasn't this a blink fansite back in the day... ? okay i dunno i'm getting off topic here probably. street view reveals almost nothing, except that by the winding part of rugby road there's weird-looking dilapidated building with all these lots and stuff... looks creepy, interesting and more importantly abandoned. there's no actual zoo on rugby road so let's not try to look at anything here too literally. there's also plenty of poles to be found all along side of the road, plus the whole "looking for animals but there isn't actually a zoo" thing makes me think maybe... statues? which is why the weird old-looking building caught my eye. obviously i'm still stuck on long island so i can't really go and look, but maybe this is a good time to start turning to /x/ or otherwise to re-enlist help. that's where i'm at so far. any help would be greatly appreciated.
